  • 5 ½ cups broccoli florets

When the water reaches boiling point, add the broccoli and cook it uncovered for approximately two minutes or until it turns bright green. Use a slotted spoon to move the cooked broccoli to a bowl of iced water and let it sit for a few minutes to stop the cooking. After that, drain the broccoli and put it aside.
  2. Boil a large pot of water. Then, add sliced carrots and cook for 1 minute. Finally, drain the carrots.
